Mountain Biking At Grizedale, Kielder And Whinlatter

Putting ‘mountain’ back into mountain biking, the forests in the North of England have some of the most adrenaline-pumping trails, coupled with awe-inspiring views. The trails at Whinlatter were recently voted in the top 3 in the country by readers of Singletrack bike magazine. You could take a long weekend and ride all of Super 6 trail centres across North England.

 

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or new to off road riding, Forestry Commission England have over 2500km of trails across England, from tough red and black graded trails to bike skills parks to hone your techniques.

 

Escape The Streets With Wild Running At Delamere

Want to escape the streets and run somewhere a little more inspiring? Forestry Commission England have selected a series of wild, euphoric runs for you to find your rhythm amongst the trees.

 

Full of variety, the Delamere 10k route takes runners climbing to a high, open hilltop at Old Pale Heights before dropping down along exciting twisty trails around Arthur’s Seat. If you make the trip, look out for the wild boar sculpture!

Get The Kids Off The Sofa With Gruffalo Orienteering At Dalby Forest

Sometimes it can be challenging to get the little ones enthusiastic about getting active outdoors, so why not take them for a forest adventure on a Gruffalo Orienteering trail? There are 8 courses around England that will teach them valuable skills on beautiful forest trails. Pick up a themed map and certificate from the visitor centre and hit the trails, the kids will love the excitement of navigating around the forest looking for Gruffalo clues.

 

Get Your Boots On And See The Stunning Views From Bellever Tor

Bellever Forest sits in the heart of the stunning Dartmoor National Park. Pull on your walking boots and take a stroll along The Lich Way, a long-distance bridleway which starts in Bellever Forest and leads out onto the moors. At twelve miles long, this walk is a whole day out, but there are shorter and easy access routes starting from the same spot.
