Yes, MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is worth it as it reduces rotational forces on the brain during angled impacts, minimising the risk of traumatic brain injuries. While MIPS helmets are more expensive, the added safety makes them a valuable investment for climbers.

The lifespan of a climbing helmet depends on usage and care:

  • Unused helmets: Up to 10 years if stored properly.
  • Regular use: Replace every 3–5 years or sooner if exposed to significant impacts or wear and tear.

Inspect your helmet regularly for cracks, dents, or compromised strap.

To ensure proper fit:

  • Adjust the harness system so it sits snugly under the curve at the back of your head.
  • The helmet should cover most of your forehead without tilting backward.
  • Test movement by slightly shifting the helmet front-to-back and side-to-side; it should remain secure without squeezing or rattling.
